Despite concerns about misinformation and false claims, social media users around the world continue to believe that the information they read and share on platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook is factually correct, with emerging economies having the highest levels of trust.
The Matter of Fact, a study conducted by Oxford University Press (OUP), the world's largest university press, examines how people around the world seek out and evaluate information. The study draws on a body of evidence supplemented by survey data collected from 5,000 people in the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa, India, and Mexico.
